Why Costumes!?

A question that a few of my friends and family have often asked of Dwayne and I are, "why do you guys dress Chase in costumes every month?" Before I answer that though, I'm not going to lie, I was really hesitant to do costumes each month. It was Dwayne's idea to do it and I was more on the "lets play it safe" side of things. I would've been okay with a normal dressy photo in the cute baby clothes, but, I remembered something Dwayne and I talked about before Chase was even born. It's the answer to that question and it's actually pretty simple - we are those parents that dare to be different! Our sons name is different, his lifestyle will be different (he's a pandemic baby), and why not follow that up with costumes each month! OH, and when our son is older and looking back on these photos we hope that he'll appreciate the creativity that his parents had for his monthly milestone photos.

Deciding the first month photo wasn't really hard at all for us. We decided to do a space themed costume in honor of his nursery which is themed "Chase's Space." The costume came in and it was so cute with its little space hood. We loved it!! So, it was only right that we suited our little one into an astronaut costume! To this day this is still one of my favorites. To infinity, and beyond! 🚀👩🏾‍🚀🪐

Month 2 came around before we knew it and Dwayne wanted to surprise me with this one. He said he wanted something that would be fun, very different from month 1, and something that represents our blooming spring baby. I wasn't expecting this one at all, but, he decided to dress him as a son-flower! 😍 Haha, get it? Son-flower like sunflower. Okay, I know, duh. lol 🌻💦☀️

Month 3 was similar to month 2 because Dwayne picked out the costume again. (Thank God for my hubby because I'm not sure my selections would ever be so cute or creative, lbs!) For this costume, it was now late June, summertime, and of course our theme had to match. We decided to do something that was going to be unBEElievable. You get that one, too? 😂🐝🌼

We selected month 4 together. We had a few options on the table to choose between but none of them felt like the one. Until, we saw this avocado costume and were like, "yup this is it!!" I mean who ever would've thought our son would be dressed as an avocado. So cute!! He's really all we avo-wanted. Have you had enough yet? I'm sure you're thinking, "you have gauc to be kidding me!" 😂🥑

Lastly, we have month 5. This final month is an interesting one because it is actually the first costume my hubby wanted to use. For month 1 he suggested the chicken costume but once again I turned it down. Honestly, I just wanted to see what else was out there and the space costume was really cute. But, little did I know, this was one of the cutessssttt costumes by far! I mean look at my son - he's a chicken! 🐣🐔

By the way, just for your viewing pleasure I've added a quick behind the scenes clip of how these photo shoots really happen. Check it out!

I almost completely forgot, we did take a few extra photos in a "little bear" costume that we'd ordered already. We didn't want to waste the cuteness so here is an extra photo of that! The cuteness is really unbearable! 🧸

I can't believe we only have 6 more months of these photos until our son's 1st birthday. We really are going to cherish every month we have left of these awesome milestone photos and we hope you all continue to enjoy this journey, too.

Thank you guys for reading and stayed tuned for month 6! You never know what we might do next. 😉 Until next time!
