Ready to Crawl!

Hey, Everyone!
Today, I'm excited to share the news that CHASETON IS STARTING TO CRAWL! 🥺 (Yes, I'm emotional about it! lol)

Babies become mobile so fast! It seems like yesterday we could just lay him down and he would sit in place just staring at a bunch of nearby toys, objects, and faces, but, now he's showing signs of wanting to explore and get moving! It's so fun seeing his excitement as he scoots across the room to get to his toys or to grab at our house-shoes lol. But, seriously, the boy will scoot to grab any object in sight, and that part is something I'm adjusting to.
First, I keep saying "scoot" because that is what Chase's crawling has been. He doesn't actually crawl on hands and knees, but rather scoots as if he experienced a leg injury in battle and is looking for cover. 😂 But, on a serious note, it works for him and I'm sure as his arms and legs grow stronger he'll be on hands and feet in no time! (Or maybe he won't? I've actually read and heard that many babies don't crawl and learn to walk first. So, don't be discouraged if your little one hasn't shown signs of this particular mobility. You might just have a walker on your hands soon!)
Here's a quick clip of what this "scooting" actually looks like... it is so cute. 😍
Second, Hubby and I are now in the process of baby-proofing the house. Notice how in the video, Chaseton was crawling towards a box of diapers despite all the toys on the mat. We've actually decided to lay Chase on the floor a few times and let him crawl around and we found SO many random objects, cords, clothes, shoes, sockets, chargers, etc... that we just looked at each other and said, "yeah, its about that time we baby-proof this place up!" Chase was reaching for EVERYTHING! Here we are putting toys in front of him to grab, but nope! That is not what he wants. Babies will go and play with anything that is not a toy. It's like they have a sensor that says, "ahh perfect, not a toy, something for me to eat and play with."
Lastly, if you're a mom or parent who is anxiously awaiting your little one to begin crawling, here are some tips on how to encourage your little one to get on the move:
Give the baby lots of tummy time. Tummy time will strengthen your babies arms, legs, back, neck, and shoulder muscles which prepares them to enter the crawling stage.
Get on the floor with your baby (see my photo above) and model what crawling looks like! Do push ups, rock back and forth on hands and knees, and reach for items nearby. It doesn't feel like much and your baby might just sit and stare at you but trust me when I say you're little one is learning from every little thing you say and do. It's only a matter of time until they begin to copy your movements.
Position toys out of reach. (Or in our son's case, anything that is safe and non-toxic that he has interest in playing with.) Start with a small reach and as the baby begins to move closer, then start moving objects a bit further. This encourages baby to look up, lift their head, and push up onto their hands and knees to locate their toy.
Hopefully these tips are helpful, and as always, feel free to leave your feedback! Please comment anything you've experienced with your little one crawling either here as a member or on my socials - @moniefresh.
I pray that as you all continue to keep up with my blog that I'll be sharing in the coming weeks that Chaseton is crawling all around OR that he's getting stronger and walking one of these days. But, until then thanks for reading and until next time!
