You know your little one is growing up once you've considered introducing solid foods. This consideration started when hubby and I noticed a few changes in our sons behavior after he made 5 months. Some things that we started to notice Chase begin to do were...

sit up on his own (with only some assistance)
grab and reach for items and put them to his mouth
stare intensely at our food as we would eat (showing interest)
Immediately the thoughts and questions began. We wondered was he ready? Are we behind? Where do we start? Oh crap, we need a high chair, baby bowl, and utensils! Let's just say, we became those excited parents ready to research everything we needed in this new baby milestone.
With the okay from our pediatrician we began to look up oatmeal baby cereals that we could use to feed our son (doctors recommendation). Oatmeal baby cereal is a great place to start when feeding your baby because....
It's a great source of iron
The consistency can be made thicker, helping your baby with weight gain
It can make your baby more full helping them sleep better at night
It's a great practice food to help them learn to swallow
Overall, with these things in mind we decided to begin with Happy Baby Oatmeal Cereal. We loved this option because it's a non-toxic baby food containing only 3 ingredients - organic oats, iron, and vitamin C. We've also ordered a non-toxic high chair, baby bowl, and utensils (but we are still waiting on these to arrive in the mail.)
Once we purchased the baby food it was time to get started! We grabbed some bibs, a big towel and hand towel (to make clean up easy) and our video camera so we wouldn't miss a moment of this special time.
I'm sure by now you're probably wondering how did this first feeding go!? Well, I've linked it below for you to watch here! Click the video below to see how things went and Chaseton's reaction to his oatmeal baby cereal.
That was great right!? I'm so proud of Chase and happy that he's growing up. Hopefully as the weeks continue I can record again to show you all the progression with eating solid foods and how things work with our high chair, bowl, and utensils.
Until then, thanks for reading and watching! Until next time!
